“Tulsa’s Central Library will be the first public library in the world to house a Starbucks location, according to an announcement Thursday. In a meeting of Tulsa City-County Library oversight commission, an update on the downtown Central Library renovation included news that the popular coffeehouse would be housed in the space at Fourth Street and Denver Avenue.” (via Tulsa World)
“Students lined up early Friday morning to get into the new library at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. To get into its Starbucks, that is. During the planning stages for the $48 million building, students clamored to have the Seattle-based chain open a coffeehouse on campus.” (via Times Free Press)
Starbucks Gossip – “After you vote Tuesday (11/4), head to your local US Starbucks and we’ll give you a FREE tall (12 oz) cup of brewed coffee at no charge (limit one per customer)”
Although, this may be illegal (look at the comments)
Here’s a tip: When I say “Iced Americano”, I don’t mean, “Caramel Latte”. Got it? 😉
Jacqueline Wayment – “No one blinked while we erected a commercial blemish in the most fair and public of buildings – a library. Is it because we now don’t have to cross University Drive to access our happy, national coffee company that we all stood blithely by? Or, maybe it’s because we didn’t change the library name to the Starbucks Library.”
Steve Oberg – “And then I wonder whether my excitement at Starbucks coming to town shows just how shallow I am”
If loving Starbucks is shallow, I’m wading in it.
