Oklahoma State Library Moving Towards The Future

“Stacks of Dickens and Twain are disappearing in Stillwater. Oklahoma State University is retiring the classics, and making room for a 21st Century library. The traditional book is far from extinction, but with the birth of the digital age comes a rebirth of libraries across the country, including at OSU. The Edmon Low Library opened its doors to Oklahoma State students for the first time in 1953.” (via NewsOn6.com)

Okla. Gov. signs library privacy, 16 other bills

“A bill intended to protect the personal information of children is among 17 bills signed into law by Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin. The so-called library bill would allow public and school libraries to deny requests for information — such as the address of a child with a library card — if staff members are suspicious of the request. Authors of the measure say it’s meant to protect children from predators.” (via AP)
