Multnomah County library proposal likely to raise concerns with Portland over possible service cuts

“Multnomah County voters in November will decide whether to bump up their property taxes enough to create a permanent library-taxing district. County commissioners voted 5-0 at a meeting attended by about 100 library supporters to refer the measure to the ballot. The $65 million taxing district would be paid for by increasing property taxes by up to $1.24 per $1,000 assessed valuation. Approval would both end a long series of temporary levies used to finance libraries and restore seven-day-a-week service that was trimmed to six earlier this year.”
