D.C. will move central library to a downtown office building during MLK renovation

“The D.C. Public Library, during the three-year period that its 440,000-square-foot central library is shuttered for a complete overhaul, will have to make do with less. A lot less. When the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Library at 901 G St. NW is closed in 2017, the library system will set up shop at 1990 K St. NW. The District’s Department of General Services has negotiated leases for two spaces in the building — 24,125 square feet on the fifth floor to house 85 administrative staff, and 5,800 square feet on the ground floor to serve as an interim central library.” (via Washington Business Journal)
