Colo. Teen Arrested For Not Returning Library DVD

AP – “A teenager who forgot to return a DVD to a Littleton library was arrested for failing to appear at court to respond to the charge. The father of 19-year-old Aaron Henson says his son never got the court summonses because they were being sent to an old address. Authorities discovered Henson had a warrant for failing to appear in court during a traffic stop a couple of weeks ago.”

Thieves break through walls to steal from library

AP – “Police say thieves busted through walls to steal six computers from a library in a poor Philadelphia neighborhood. Library staff noticed the thefts from the Cecil B. Moore branch of the Free Library of Philadelphia on Tuesday morning.”

Thefts won’t change library policy

Press Citizen – “Police last month charged an Iowa City resident with the theft of 53 DVDs from the public library. It could take weeks or months before the library sees those movies or the $1,360 they are valued at, police said. However, library director Susan Craig said the library won’t be changing the policy that allows residents to check out so many materials in the first place because thefts are rare.”
