Weblogs as Libraries

Katie has written an essay entitled, "Weblogs as Libraries:

"Libraries have historically allowed for the transmission of ideas from one generation to the next. We have yet to see if weblogs will have the same impact. What we can see now is the increase of the transmission of ephemeral ideas; ideas that might never be available through traditional publishing schemes."

"When someone hears the word "library" they often think of physical space in the three dimensional world. With the emergence of "virtual" libraries in the last ten years, we must not only readjust our perception of libraries, but that of the public's too. Weblogs may be part of the solution to the creation, storage and design of these virtual libraries."
