More from AnalogKid

Some great discussion going on regarding Analogs recent posting. There is a mistake in his rant, however:

"You don't accidentally become a librarian or a teacher. From what I understand, it takes at least 4 years of schooling to enter either profession."

Librarians have Masters Degrees, so that would make it 6 years of schooling, (or 36 or so post Bachelors credits - many people do it in less than two years, but not me), but thats alright. We get that all the time...

Not all librarians have Masters degrees. I would bet that most in Maine's myriad small libraries do not, and some don't even have bachelor's degrees. A 'professional' librarian has a Masters degree, but you can be a librarian for your whole life and not have one.

I can only speak from my experieces. I only know 3 folks who work in libraries, my aunt and two of her friends. They all have 4 year degrees. Some of the managers that they have worked under have had Masters, but I was going off what I had found to be a minimum. No use overshooting the point. I'll file this new info away for later though.
