I posted this to LISNews, but I thought it would be valid here as well.
"A strategic shift is occurringin the information professional market as individuals are challenged withproviding more value to their organizations and aligning themselves closer toprofit centers, reports a new survey sponsored by LexisNexis(TM) U.S., aleading global provider of legal, business, and news information. Ninety-onepercent of respondents agree that their roles have shifted from informationgatherer to information consultant." (via PR Newswire)
In a speech I gave at SUNYLA last week, I mentioned a similar theme. I feel that I need to justify my existence in my company everyday. In order to do this, I have gone above and beyond my pre-described duties, by not only providing research, but also providing content. Using my news aggregator, I am able to obtain articles/new caselaw/ and other information that is customized to fit the needs of individual attorneys. So, I guess that I am an "information disseminator" as well...
