I am a currency guy, meaning that almost everything that I write and speak about deals with how information professionals can stay current without spending hours upon hours pouring through journals and reading stuff on the Web (among other things) in an attempt to stay up to date in our field. Thus, my area of study is pretty narrow and focused.
That said, one of the aspects of cuurency that I really should start reading about is technology trends. As I have mentioned before, I am a non-techie librarian. I don't know javascript from a hole in the wall, I am a terrible coder, and my eyes glaze over when someone mentions cgi/perl/php or anything like that. But, reading about technology trends will help me learn more about how technology affects currency (which it definitely has over the past 20 years).
Again, I need written work on technology trends to be easy to understand and I am on a quest to find one good source. I subscribed to Roland Piquepaille's Technology Trends RSS Feed as a starting point. If you have another resource that may be more useful, send me an e-mail or put it in the comments section below.
