No More Voidstar?

As many of you know, Voidstar has been providing an easy way to have an RSS Feed for a site via its RSSify Your Blog initiative. Well, it looks like the guy behind Voidstar is getting the broadband sucked out of him.

I recieved an IM from Jessamyn this afternoon saying she recieved an e-mail from Aaron telling her that a strange message appeared on her RSS feed today. It looked something like this (Thanks Jenny for the screenshot)

While this may be bad news for those using Voidstar, it may be good news for Blogging software, because, as Jenny mentioned today via IM and her post yesterday, the user should really be deciding (not third party software) how their RSS Feeds should appear in an aggregator. I fully agree. So, I hope that all of you who have been using Voidstar and who want to continue providing content via RSS (and why shouldn't you) decide to go with Movabletype, Radio, or Blogger Pro (or any other software that generates RSS) to get syndicated content out to your readers. There is nothing wrong with a little conformity, ya know.

BTW, you are more than welcome to use LISfeeds to host your RSS Feed.

OR host the voidstar code yourself. If you have a vague idea of what the code does, like I do, you can customize it.

I got the same message from Voidstar, and poked around a bit. Blogmatrix (http://www.blogmatrix.com) offers a similar service. It's a much cleaner feed, too, imho.

Is there a free blogging software that provides RSS generation? I have NO budget.

Re Blogmatrix -- I tried to use them a couple of weeks ago and got no response when I set up an account. Perhaps I need to add metadata to my blog, as they suggest, but I'm stumped by the instructions for doing so (http://www.blogmatrix.com/rewrite). What is my blog's 'template'?

Grrr.

Your blog's template? Depends on what publishing system you use. It is the page that has the info about what your blog looks like.
