Linnea's Liblog - "Information wants to be organized"
RSS Feed available.
Posted by Steven at April 2, 2003 10:51 PMUnfortunately, there seems to be no way of either commenting on an entry--or even sending email to "Linnea," whoever that is.
(Which I find unfortunate possibly because the most recent post at this writing points to a long InfoToday article on wikis and the like, specifically pulling out the piece that makes me look like a dummy for not "getting" wikis.)
Oh well, since I still don't quite "get" wikis, and really don't get the desirability of collaborative environments where one person gets to change someone else's commentary, maybe it's just as well.
Posted by: Walt Crawford on April 3, 2003 11:03 AMWell! It seems I've been discovered, before I've had a chance to fully update the site with my contact information, comment system, etc. Apologies to those trying to reach me!
Walt, I didn't mean to cast you in a bad light because you don't get wikis - I specifically pulled that part of the article because it's very similar to my own response to wikis and their ilk. I still don't quite "get" them, either.
Please bear with me, I will be implementing comments as time allows (I have a cataloging midterm next week which is mostly eating my brain).
Steven, thanks for mentioning my log on Library Stuff!

I'll send you (non-hostile) email directly on Monday (probably). Don't worry about it: I was feeling particularly dinosaurish this week--for reasons that may or may not be evident from the new Cites & Insights.
Your posting alerted me to the need to read the article (which I might otherwise have ignored) and send email to the author. And try a couple more wikis in the process.
Which I still don't get. Ah well.
(As opposed to weblogs, which I definitely get but don't, currently, personally wish to do.)
Good luck with the midterm.
