Library Stuff – 2000-2017 – R.I.P.

I was informed this week that Information Today (ITI) will cease sponsorship of my blog, Library Stuff, in August. ITI is a top notch company that took a chance on a second tier, haphazardly-filled, professional library blog in 2005. Thank you to everyone at ITI for making this happen for the past 12 years.

Special thanks to Richard T. Kaser, Bill Spence, and J.D. Thomas for their assistance.

Library Stuff started in August 2000 and it has had a great run. 17 years later, I am at a very different place in my career. I’m thinking of shutting it down for good.

Any thoughts from my library friends?

Didn’t you say at least once before (perhaps on an April Fools’ Day) that you were shutting down your blog? In any case, I for one hope you don’t do it now. On most days you post a useful and/or interesting item — or more than one! — that I haven’t seen elsewhere. LJ INFOdocket is good, but it wouldn’t be a complete replacement. If you do close the blog, well, thanks for the memories — I mean, for the information — and good luck in your future projects!

I wouldn’t mind if you would continue the blog with posts only every other week or month: as I am reading it via RSS feed it’s easy to stay tuned.
but I would mind missing posts like the one about the card catalogue book ( 🙂

I find Library Stuff fills a unique place among my feeds/blogs/etc. I’ll be sorry to see it go away if you decide to stop. As a long time follower I appreciate the variety of items posted here and will miss this part of my continuing education routine. Whatever you decide, thanks so much for the valuable content these many years.

This is a site I have been visit every couple of weeks or so for at least eight years, and I regularly find information useful to my solo-librarian job and also to my side interests. Whatever you decide to do with it, thanks for your judicious curating. As a side note, there has been a noticeable lack of R.E.M. posts lately. 🙂
