Ames library closed because most of staff sick; food-poisoning eyed as possible cause

“The Ames Public Library is closed today because most of its staff members called in sick. Spokeswoman Susan Gwiasda said 22 staff members, including the director, are ill. She said officials are looking into the possibility that they ate tainted food during a staff meeting on Monday, when the library was closed for Presidents’ Day. Gwiasda said there have been numerous other illnesses locally in recent weeks. Most of it, she said, “is typical midwinter, people being inside and passing things back and forth.” (via The Des Moines Register)
