Natasha Trethewey Named New U.S. Poet Laureate

WSJ – “Natasha Trethewey has been chosen by the Library of Congress to be the 19th U.S. Poet Laureate. Born in Gulfport, Mississippi the 46-year-old is only the second person from the South to hold the position. A professor at Emory University, Trethewey is the author of “Beyond Katrina: A Meditation on the Mississippi Gulf Coast” and “Native Guard,” which won a Pulitzer Prize in Poetry. Trethewey is the first African American since Rita Dove to hold the post.”
