This video is painfully slow! I’d wager your average librarian can read a bit faster than this. I do know a lot of shockingly-dressed librarians, but I think that’s mostly because the job doesn’t dictate or expect that you turn up in a power-suit or anything particularly fashion-forward. Personally, I like dressing for work, but if I was the “can’t be bothered” type, I could be in socks and sandals and plaid like the rest of my colleagues and no-one would say a word.
Nice video. But they needed to add some pictures of the next gen librarians. Most of us have piercings, funky hair colors/styles, and at times tats. I myself change hair color every couple of months.
Hmmm…I’m a librarian and I quite like the ‘sexy librarian’ stereotype. No, I don’t dress like the stereotypes most days, but I like some of them. Do I need to turn my LIS degrees over now? I mean, come on, the only people who have that image of a librarian stuck in their brains are those who don’t use libraries to begin with.
