Mesa police: Woman uses fake bill for $2 library card

Arizona Republic – “A 26-year-old Mesa woman who police said tried to obtain a $2 library card with a counterfeit bill was arrested on forgery charges Wednesday morning. Police said the woman is accused of entering the Mesa Public Library at First Street and Centennial Way and asking to sign up for a new library card. When presented with the $20 to pay for the card, the librarian noticed that the bill felt and looked odd, police said. The librarian told police the suspect then fled the building and did not return.”
