Historian finds every home has a story

Chicago Tribune – “If only these walls could talk, old-house owners ponder. Imagine the stories they could tell. Thanks to house historian Grace DuMelle, the stories emerge. Through her research, DuMelle weaves the history of a house, its previous occupants and its neighborhood. DuMelle’s company, Heartland Historical Research Service (hhrs1872.com), is based in her Chicago home, but her detective work sends her into storerooms of yellowed records and parlors of elderly neighbors.”
