Silicon Valley designer’s twisting path leads to literary center

San Jose Mercury News – “George Scheber is on the phone and while the name is familiar, I can’t quite place it until he mentions the Carnegie Library. Ah, that George Scheber. He was a Silicon Valley circuit board designer who moved to central Illinois, bought a decrepit Carnegie Library in a tiny town and cooked up a plan to turn it into a center where kids would learn to love reading and writing. (Yeah, it’s a long story.) I wrote about him four years ago because his story struck me as such an odd career progression.”
