Library books fall by two million a year amid warnings of cuts and closures

Telegraph – “Thirteen million fewer books are available to borrow now than six years ago – an 11 per cent drop – while the number issued to readers is falling even faster. New figures out later this month are expected to confirm the trend is continuing, amid fears local authorities will close many libraries altogether as the credit crunch puts pressure on public services.’
