Digg May Release a Web-based Toolbar

PC World – “A photograph uncovered on Flickr is creating speculation that Digg may be coming out with a new Web-based toolbar, in addition to its existing Firefox toolbar. The new feature is designed not only to submit your favorite content to Digg, but also to make it easier to share “Diggs” across your other social media identities.”

Google Puts Ads on Its News Site, Reviving Debate

NYTimes.com – “Google began running small text ads on the pages of its Google News service this week, reviving a debate between the company and some struggling newspaper publishers, who have seen their businesses devastated by the shift of advertising to the Internet.”

Head of book trade association is stepping down

Associated Press – “The longtime head of the book publishers’ trade association is stepping down. Former Rep. Pat Schroeder of Colorado, who has served for 12 years as president and CEO of the Association of American Publishers, says it’s time for her “to move on.” She will be replaced in May by former Rep. Tom Allen of Maine.”
