"Written by Sherman Alexie, "The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian," which is based on Alexie's own experiences, follows a boy who leaves the Spokane Indian Reservation to attend an all-white school "where the only other Indian is the school mascot" according to the book jacket description.

But Hank Moss, of Prineville, read the book his son was assigned to read and raised objections to the school board earlier this week,"

Ok, so the parent doesn't like the book...the part about masturbation....This must have been assigned to a high school class to read....

This raises many issues:

How can 1 ONE Parent have a book removed from a library?

Why is not the school Librarian defending the book?

Why did the principal & board allow this?

Is the parent also monitoring his child's, phone conversations, e-mails, texts & myspace page?

Does this parent really believe that he has the right to censor what others read?

Does this parent really believe that his child knows nothing about masturbation?

And, again...what the hell is the school thinking, allowing One parent to have a National Book Award winner removed from the collection?
