It's amazing that such a big newspaper can confuse a company dedicated to 'do no evil' with a company 'dedicated to doing good'...it's the sort of difference that got the 'I, Robot' chaps into trouble

"In Switzerland, data protection officials are quietly pressing Google to scrap plans to introduce Street View, a mapping service that provides a vivid, 360-degree, ground-level photographic panorama from any address. Swiss privacy law prohibits the unauthorized use of personal images or property.

In Germany, where Street View is also not available, the simple process of taking photographs for the service violates privacy laws."
International Herald Tribune

I wholeheartedly agree with the privacy laws...I do not like the idea of strangers being able to go online and being able to view my residence or place of employment!

Yes, it is about Privacy, and being a librarian supporting the 1st Amendment and fighting the Patriot Act....well this goes hand in hand.

I love Google...we use it daily at the Reference Desk, but this is a bit much....privacy is a human right and not to be infringed upon!
