The Secret to Finding Time For Social Media

November 11th, 2008

B.L. Ochman - “The No. 1 question I’m asked when I speak at corporate seminars and mention that I recently wrote my 7,000th Twitter entry is “How in the world do you have the time for social media?” The answer: I don’t. I make time.”

3 COmments on “The Secret to Finding Time For Social Media”

  1. Dan Nieman Says:

I agree completely. Social media is must for public librarians, librarians (who have not completed an MLS) and library paraprofessionals. It is the publish or perish mediam for the rest of us.

  2. Ivan Chew Says:

“The answer: I don’t. I make time.” - EXACTLY! If we think something is important enough, we’d make time. I think this is probably the most frequently-asked-question to bloggers.

@ Dan - Three years ago, I’d have agreed wholeheartedly with you — that social media is a ‘must’ for information professionals. Now, I’ve moderated my stand that it’s not completely a must. Some people may not choose to do it, which is fine. I think there can never be 100% involvement by any single profession. What matters, I think, is how each information professional engage their customers - online or off.

  3. Hitika Paul Says:

I agree that social media is indeed an important tool for building reputation online.

@ Ivan - I agree its not the Only toll - but I would say that it also depends to the kind of market you cater to. If your customers are all tech savvy…then it does become the Only tool…
