LA Times Gaming Piece
April 17th, 2008Did you catch the Los Angeles Times story on gaming? I was contacted by the journalist, but declined an e-mail interview because I always get misquoted. Well, while the piece did not misquote me, it does make me look like an old curmudgeon.
Oh well, no harm, no foul, right Tbone?
I like this quote:
“Sadly, like in the example of the older generation not being able to read when books first were invented, the same goes with Videogames when some people like this guy from the older generation somehow can’t be bothered in learning how to play “these darm” videogames.”
I’m officially old. And after today, I feel old.

Having seen a picture of you, I guess you are in your 30’s. Well, that’s old. And I know what I’m talking about, because I’m 30 this year.
By the way, next time you’re contacted by a journalist, my 2-cents advice is : accept an interview with them, but only on condition that you can publish the full interview on your website. So if you’re misquoted or misinterpreted, people can go to your site and read the whole truth.

Also, Thanks for the journalist advice.

Never trust a journalist.

I’m in eighth grade and I had to choose a topic to write a persuasive essay on, so I chose this because it had two sides I could talk about. I have kept this article, read it, and agree with the opinion that libraries should not have to attract teenagers like myself with video games. Yes, they are truly addicting at times, but bribing us like that is not the way to go.

Remember, not ALL video games are meant to be played with thumbs, guitars, and shooting guns.
Check out upcoming Nintendo Wii Fit:
This exercise game would make an excellent learning program for adults, teens, and kids alike. I hope the librarians take a notice.
