From the picture description - “Way back yonder, right after electricity was discovered, I’d come to this room to do research in the Guide to Periodicals. I’d pass my request to the librarian who would give me a number and then send to the stacks for the issues I needed. When my number lit up on this board, my periodicals were ready.”
