Pretty substantial number, although I think the librar* community has more. Walt?

Hey Stephen; I am sure you librarians are WAY ahead of we mere PR hacks. Thanks for the link.
Hi Kami: Long time no e-mail/IM/speak. I don’t know if librar* blogs outnumber PR. Walt should be able to help if he reads this.
I’d say three things:
1. It depends on your definition of “librar*”
2. I don’t actually track these things on an ongoing basis. I’ve mostly used two wikis as source material.
3. Given both those caveats, I’m fairly certain that, including only English-language blogs, there are more than 500 currently-active blogs by library people (and quite possibly more than 1,000, depending on your definition of “currently-active”), several hundred (at least 300, possibly more than 1,000) blogs from public libraries, a few hundred (at least 250, possibly many more) blogs from academic libraries.
So, yes, it’s fair to say there are more than 743 active “libr*” blogs.
I think all those numbers are defensible on the low end. On the high end? Could be off by an order of magnitude (if you allow very loose definition of “currently-active”), but I’d be surprised.
Using a moderate definition (“at least one post every other month and at least one post within the last two months”), I’d guess somewhere between 1,000 and 5,000 English-language “libr*” blogs–and, to be sure, at least hundreds more in other languages.
Wow, very impressive, and good luck keeping up with all of those. I suspect that we aren’t 100 percent keeping up either, Constantin tags what he can and what its brought to his attention.
And Steven, sorry for misspelling your name. It has been a long time.
