The Starbucks Library

November 12th, 2007

Jacqueline Wayment - “No one blinked while we erected a commercial blemish in the most fair and public of buildings - a library. Is it because we now don’t have to cross University Drive to access our happy, national coffee company that we all stood blithely by? Or, maybe it’s because we didn’t change the library name to the Starbucks Library.”

Hmm, you just picked out all the commercialism-related post for libraries today, huh? That aside, that was a pretty thoughtful column the young lady wrote. I do wonder at times if that is the wave of the future: the Starbucks Library at X campus.
