Textbooks Are Expensive
August 30th, 2007Michelle Slatalla - “With this year’s news about the ways some unscrupulous colleges make an extra buck off students’ naïveté — from loan officers who accepted lenders’ kickbacks to schools that got cash incentives to steer students to expensive study-abroad programs — I felt it was expedient to warn my daughter about a big expense that looms before her. Textbooks.” (via)

There’s another option for students, which may be the cheapest of all for many textbooks - renting them. There’s a new online textbook rental service called TextBookFlix (http://www.textbookflix.com), which offers over two million used books and 800,000 new book titles. Students are welcome to check it out and compare the renting prices against buying new/used textbooks.
They’re not only cost-saving service, but also an eco-friendly one. They work with Eco-Libris (http://www.ecolibris.net) to plant a tree for every textbook that is rented on their website.

i agree with what you already said…they should allow all schools across the country to have students trade textbooks instead of always buying them…luckily this past term my schools student body camp up with http://www.booktradenow.com they have been a savior to our local schools.
