Annoyed, Anonymous, and A Hero

August 30th, 2007

AL - “The Annoyed Librarian is an alternative voice in librarianship, and that’s that.”

I’m not getting involved in this discussion (I’m done with it), but I will say that any alternative voice that goes against the grain in our profession as much as the Annoyed Librarian does should be anonymous, because of the mob mentality that ensues.

It’s sad really, but maybe a mob mentality is what we need at this point in order to progress. I’m torn.

I do agree with DLK though. If you don’t like it, don’t read it. I’ve always felt that way.

If more people had such a “live and let live” attitude instead of forming a mob anytime someone raises a few questions against the grain, the world would be a much better place. Like you, I am mostly staying out of the discussion. True words: if you don’t like it, don’t read it (or watch it, or listen to it, etc.).
