Happy 50th to “On The Road”
NYT – “Although much of this will primarily appeal to Beat aficionados, “On the Road†continues to have a wider cultural significance, particularly for the young.”

Wow, On the Road at 50! Interesting of course that the events of the book took place in ’49 or so and I *believe* it was actually written long before its publication, in the early ’50s.
Very influential book for me personally, and one of the most exciting and strange and wonderfully written pieces of literature I’ve ever come across. Kerouac’s other work pales in comparison, I have to say, with the important exception of Dharma Bums.
