Although I’m glad you’ve come up with a way to bring attention to your library system, I’m a little disappointed you felt need to use Sanjaya’s name to help attract attention to your announcement . . . and not say a word or two of support for him.
He has been used and abused by way too many and been the brunt of undeserved caustic commentary. When is following one’s dreams a crime? 17-year old Sanjaya has proven to be quite the role model for “courage under fire”, perseverance, composure, poise, and diplomacy.
As he physically matures, his singing voice will only improve. Tony Bennett, Diana Ross, and Jennifer Lopez, all who enjoyed his voice, can’t all be wrong. As Jay Leno said, after Sanjaya’s visit on the Tonight show, “You’re a class act”.
Sincere good luck on your contest. Heaven knows we need people to support our libraries and help people remember the magic of reading.
