Oy Vey Six Apart!
May 30th, 2007LiveJournal users are revolting against Six Apart. Can’t say I blame ‘em. Educating our children about the bad stuff they find on the Internet is the key. Taking the bad stuff away is not a good idea. I wonder if they were threatened with a lawsuit.
Do You Zuula? How about Mahalo
May 30th, 2007I haven’t been much impressed with new search engines lately (heck even the “oldies” aren’t that great), but Zuula looks quite useful. If anything, it’s a decent way to compare results from across the board. I added it as my default FireFox search. We’ll see. (via)
Also, the Financial Times has a piece [...]
No Dewey For You
May 30th, 2007The times they are a changin’.
Walt on Conferences
May 29th, 2007As always, the latest C&I is worthy of a big ol’ File….Print. Just in time for a boring fun time at ALA Annual. Walt even writes about Twitter. I’m not surprised to see Walt absent from Twitting. Not his thing. That’s cool Walt. It’s not for everybody and I have totally stopped telling people that [...]
Chapter 15
May 29th, 2007With all the new Bankruptcy filings going on, we’re going to need a new number to use for e-mail. I picked 15 randomly. I declared chapter 15 this morning and started over by 9:30AM. Want to get in touch with me? Call me. Have you declared e-mail bankruptcy yet? [...]

May 29th, 2007I’m going to install this extension when I get to the office. Lately, I’ve been enamored by Twitbin, bit posting directly from the FF address bar could be helpful if I just want to get a quick Tweet out there. We’ll see. (via).
FIOS Rawks
May 29th, 2007BusinessWeek has a piece on Verizon FIOS, which delivers speed very close to a T3. I had it installed a few months back and I’m in heaven. Web pages don’t load, they just appear. Movies up to 900 kbs stream without buffering. Hallie plays all of her games without any bandwidth [...]
Social Information Overload
May 28th, 2007Marry Hodder wants to know how to manage SIO. I just dumped a bunch of social stuff that I never used. My advice: Hold onto the core stuff. For me, it’s Twitter and Flickr. I’m not even on IM much anymore.

VIP Feeds and Getting Help.
May 25th, 2007That’s it!
I’m creating a folder of VIP feeds in Thunderbird. Why? Because I have so many feeds in my reader that I miss important ones like this from Michelle Boule. In it, she writes:
“I suppose the real point of writing this post is so that you, my readers and friends, would know [...]

The Four Habits of Highly Effective Librarians
May 23rd, 2007I love this:
“All too often, librarians — like all human beings — do not listen to one another. In a well-meaning attempt to be proactive we may dutifully invite co-workers or subordinates to weigh in on how we might improve some aspect of our services. If they say things we have already thought of, or [...]

Ours will still be hot.

May 22nd, 2007This has to be incorrect. 1000 new users every hour?
Convert Files to PDF via E-mail
May 22nd, 2007Here’s a neat PDF converter tool. Send an e-mail to pdf@koolwire.com and attach a file. It will then e-mail it back to you (mine came in 20 seconds) in PDF format. Much easier than PDFexpress. (via)
