The classes are held in a computer lab where students attend lectures, listen to rap and hunt through online research tools, including online textbooks. Each student recently gave a video/audio presentation to the class about a rapper or rap group, including Method Man, Boogie Down Productions, Lil’ Kim, Nate Dogg and Ol’ Dirty Bastard.
Crude language is part and parcel of the research and presentations; it’s unavoidable and, sometimes, uncomfortable for students.
"This one is so, so vulgar," Johnson warned the class before she played Too Short’s Invasions of the Flat Bootie Bitches for her project. But no one snickered or even blushed at the lyrics, a lament about women who are too skinny.

Leta is wonderful, I worked with her a bit when I was at OSU, very passionate woman, I bet she’s doing a great job!
