Just A Bunch of Tubes

I read this in the New York Law Journal this morning:

“Mr. White said the plaintiffs missed the deadline for filing opposition papers because it relied on an erroneous report on the e-law Web site that said the Nassau County Supreme Court would be closed on Jan. 3.”

Ouch! Just another reason to not rely on one source. I’ve used E-law and it’s very useful, but I always try to find back-up, even for court closures. The plaintiff should have also checked the court web site. Or, called the court. The phone is a wonderful tool.

Darien Takes on Kenton

Jenny Levine has post about a blog from the director of the Darien Public Library. I followed a few links and came across Darien’s list of feeds. Well, not as much as Kenton County Public, but a nice list. I like that they are listing the latest posts from each blog, which, BTW, is a very easy thing to do, and really shows off the content.

Go Darien! Get busy! It’s your birthday!

Fun At Adventureland

We took the kids to Adventureland today, a place where I spent many summer days as a kid. I realized that I hadn’t been there in about 25 years!

Don’t Be Phony

Jessamyn says:

“When I was speaking in Australia in 2004 about the USA PATRIOT Act and CIPA and HIPAA, someone asked the question “How do you keep going? How do you face each day with all these difficult tasks ahead of you?” And my answer was then, as it is now, I think I’m right. I don’t kid myself that other people also think I’m right, but I enjoy talking to them just the same. It’s easy to be relaxed about your approach when you feel it deep in your bones and aren’t just talking about what people want you to talk about to make rent or get a promotion”

Darn I like that! In other words (or what I read into it), don’t be phony. Be real. Also, someone will call you on it if you are contradictory or fake. It’s happened to me many times in the past, but not as much lately. Why? Because I think I’m right.

Right on Jessamyn. Right on.

More Librar* Blogs

A few that Aggie brought me today. Thanks babe:

+ @ the library“Hi. My name is Rhonda. I’m a librarian. Well, I’m lots of other things as well, but my profession is librarianship. I graduated from Simmons College in 1993 and now I’m Dean of the Library at Colorado State University – Pueblo. I’m also a mom, with four children! Where do you think I get my information about current technology?”

+ Many Pink Sneakers“I’m a work in progress librarian–surrounded by books at home, at work, and in my car. I love to laugh and I love blogging.”

Hey folks. I just wanted to point out that Elsevier is now advertsing on Library Stuff for their new Science Direct offering, e-Select. So, do me a favor and click this link and take a look at their products. It’s ads like these that help Library Stuff continue. So, if you don’t like what I blog about, don’t click. Heh.

The ad will run on the top right part of the page, rather unobstrusively I think. Plus, I might send it over my feed every now and then.

Thanks Elsevier!
