The library weblog dedicated to resources for keeping current and professional development

“Information Pizza”

August 18th, 2006

Remember that RSS Tutiorial that Luke Rosenberger promised us? Well it’s online now and it rocks!

“Are you tired of going out searching over and over for your topic of interest? Or constantly checking and re-checking website after website to see the latest updates? There’s a better way! Your libraries offer you tools and services to get the newest, most current information in your field of study or interest delivered to you directly and automatically! It’s like an information pizza — with just the toppings you want — delivered hot and fresh to your door every day!”

Information pizza. I love it Luke.

His library system has also created their own RSS feeds to some of the publications that his library subscribes to. Now, these journals already have their own feeds. So, why did the library system create their own?

“They are specially designed so that when you click the headline, you’ll be able to access the full-text of the article (you may need to enter your library barcode number if you’re located off-campus).”

Wowza! Great work. This idea could and should be emulated by others.
