How Many Keywords Does It Take…

July 24th, 2006

Interesting new statistics from Onestat about the number of keywords searchers use:

“[M]ost people use 2 word phrases in search engines. Of all the search phrases world wide, 28.91 percent of the people use 2 word phrases, 27.85 percent use 3 word phrases and 17.11 percent use 4 word phrases. Less and less people use now 1 keyword since the last measurement in July 2005.”

I’m not sure what a “one word phrase” means. I can only assume that they mean one keyword. Another question that I would have for Onestat would be centered around quotes. There is a big difference between using and not using quotes in search engine queries. It’s not mentioned at all if these “phrases” were quoted or not.

So, are these statistics promising? I really can’t tell. More info please OneStat.
