Why Libraries Blog
July 4th, 2006I was taking a look at the Waterboro Public Library (CA) Waterloo Public Library site after seeing a link from Michael and saw this article about their blog. An interesting quote from Christine Brown:
“Brown, who has a master’s degree in library and information science but is self-taught in computer literacy, draws her inspiration from a wide variety of sources.
“I read other blogs. I’m always checking out new websites and read newspapers online to find out what’s going on. I read the professional literature like Computers in Libraries and Library Journal. I always check major database providers. Every day, there’s something new.”
And she says her greatest satisfaction is sharing the bounty of her information harvest with others. “That’s why I started the blog, because I had so much stuff I was excited about.”
Interesting in that she checks “major database providers”. I’m sure that I would write about articles that aren’t freely available more if, well, they were more freely available.
Update - Post updated because I was a nincompoop and got the name of the library wrong. Sorry Christine
