The library weblog dedicated to resources for keeping current and professional development

Carnival of the Infosciences

April 24th, 2006

Here we go!

First, the submissions:

+ There’s lots going on about “self-promotion” in the library blogging community (I’m staying far away from this one guys) so take a look at Meredith Farkas’s post on the subject (submitted by Steve Lawson).

+ Amamda Robertson sends in her thoughts on the NYT piece on art sculptures made from old books.

+ Chris Harris writes: - “An Infomancer’s Response to Censorship which builds upon an ongoing discussion from the past week or so in educational blogs about the rising tide of filtering as censorship. Links to more of the edublogosphere postings can be found in http://schoolof.info/infomancy/?p=194 as well.”

Here’s some other stuff that I found over the past week.

+ Cindy L. Chick has a post titled, 10 Steps to Releasing Your Inner Public Speaker

+ It was World Book and Copyright Day yesterday

+ Sarah Johnson (”reference/electronic resources librarian at a midwestern university”) has a blog dedicated to historical fiction. What a niche!

+ Morgan at Explodedlibrary has just added more blogs to the list of Australian library-type blogs.

+ Guus van den Brekel has a few thoughts about gaming and libraries.

+ Steve Leary at the Reflective Librarian has a few words to say about How A Librarian Works, based on an article by Bill Gates.

+ Last, and certainly not least (this was my favorite post for the week), T. Scott ponders An Intergrated Life.

Well, that’s it for me. Next week, the Carnival will be hosted by Amanda Etches-Johnson. I’ll be back in a month.
