Think you have the most up-to-date high tech self-check out machine? Take a look at this picture that appeared in the New York Times, with this accompanying article. In the future, will self-checkout be more than just…well…self-checkout.

+ Will users be able to pay their overdue fines (can they do that now? – I’m not 100% sure) with their credit or ATM cards?

+ Will users be able to buy or add money to their public transportation tickets?

+ Send and/or receive a fax?

+ Be available when the library is closed?

+ more?

I don’t know the answers, but there are many questions…
