Library Thing Hires a Real Live Librarian
March 7th, 2006Tim Spalding has a goldmine in Library Thing (I’ve said it many times) and he has just scored more points by hiring a part-time librarian to help out. Welcome Abigail Blachly, who writes:
“Anyway, here I am, ready and willing to talk LibraryThing meets library science. I’ve never worked as a professional cataloger or technical services librarian, though, so go easy on me. But I am still a librarian, after all, so if I don’t know an answer, I’ll find it.”
I follow the discussion on Library Thing and it hasn’t let up since this tool went live. While most services die off in the buzz, LT has remained a constant because it has a strong dedicated user base. Without users, librarians know, the service provided means nothing. Of course, the service needs to be top notch as well, and in the case of Library Thing, it has. Way to go Tim.
