Is ALA Going Blog Happy?
January 18th, 2006Well, you know about the very popular ALA Techsource Blog (I’m very intrigued that the blog posts are put through the editing process - something that I could use every so often on this blog!). While looking at Pop Goes the Library, I noticed that YALSA now has a blog just in time for Midwinter. Take a closer look and you’ll notice that it resides on the ALA domain. Take an even closer look and you’ll see that they have created a sub-domain for blogs.
Could this be? Is ALA getting more into blogs? How exciting for the organization and for the profession. YALSA is the only one there now (along with a few test sites) but this could be the start of an exciting blogging initiative for ALA. I have my fingers crossed.
One last note. The PLA Blog turns 1 this week. I am blessed to be working with Andrea and the staff at PLA on what has turned out to be a ground breaking exercise (PLA was the first national library association to start a blog) and that others were able to follow suit. Here’s to all the library associations that now have blogs.
