Kevin Burton on New Attensa Aggregator

December 23rd, 2005

Kevin Burton played with the closed beta version of the new web-based aggregator from Attensa today and wasn’t thrilled, but remains optimistic. I hope to get my invite this week.

Kevin is right about web-aggregators. In such a crowded market, these new tools need to do something more than just aggregate content. Two that I think have promise are Gritwire and Rojo because they have the social networking aspect built in. I can share my reading list with those in my networks, which I love. Aggregators in the future will not be just feed readers, but built upon a trust and sharing environment between the users of these systems. Also, when will aggregators start to incorporate ratings systems? Digg-type functionality would be really useful…

On a related note, I’ve been sharing e-mails with a customer service person at Rojo and have been thrilled with the response I’m getting from them. They really have a neat product which also needs a bit of work. but it deserves props for what it has done so far.
