JCO Could Win Nobel…

September 30th, 2005

Next week, the Nobel Prize in Literature will be announed. There are lots of rumors out there as to who will get the nod and Joyce Carol Oates is apparently on the top of many favorites’ lists.

“Bookmaker Ladbrokes made Adonis the 2-to-1 favorite for the October 6 prize, but some better-known writers, such as U.S. novelist Joyce Carol Oates and Czech Milan Kundera, are among the top eight.”

“Oates is just one of the best living writers in the world, but is surely not as recognized as well as she deserves. But I guess when her novel We Were the Mulvaneys was chosen as an Oprah book, it gave her a popular recognition that she probably hasn’t enjoyed since the 1960s with here novel Them. (not that she’s concerned with popularity.) Now she deserves the Nobel’s recognition.”

My fingers are crossed for JCO…
