Reflection

September 21st, 2005

I’ve been feeling a bit off for the past few days. Nothing big, I think I need a medication adjustment. During the dizzying day I had at work today (seriously dizzy, not crazy busy dizzy, I think it’s a side effect of the meds), I read about the death of Laurel Anne Clyde and the issues that Jenny has been having at home.

I’ve also been speaking to colleagues at numerous events about the crazy lives that we lead and how it affects our health (physical and mental). I took a moment on the train today to reflect on what is really important in my life and I came up with a mental list. In order of importance…

1) Family
2) Health
3) Stability - Closely related to 1 and 2
4) Play
5) Work (All types including presenting, fullt-time, and consulting)

Sometimes this list gets re-arranged and it is very important to make sure it gets replaced in the right order as soon as humanly possible.

I don’t sit down at my computer at night until Hallie is fast asleep, I’ve spent quality time with Barbie, and I’ve de-bugged from a hectic day of work and travel. I guess it grounds me and keeps what could be a very stressful existence…well…less stressful. My condolenses go out Anne’s family and friends and I wish a quick recovery to the medical conditions that Jenny and her family are dealing with.
