LibriVox - Podcasting Public Domain Books

August 10th, 2005

Hugh McGuire sent in a link to one of his new projects, called LibriVox:

“LibriVox is an open source audio-literary attempt to harness the power of the many to record and disseminate, in podcast form, books from the public domain. It works like this: a book is chosen, then *you*, the volunteers, read and record one or more chapters. We liberate the audio files through this webblog/podcast every week.”

I absolutely love this idea (I know that I’m going to have to start podcasting soon). If you would like to participate, it looks like they are in need of podcasters for The Secret Agent, by Joseph Conrad. Has this been done yet? I remember reading something of similar magnitude.
