The library weblog dedicated to resources for keeping current and professional development

025.431

July 1st, 2005

Those OCLCers are just going blog happy these days. 025.431: The Dewey blog is edited by Joan Mitchell, Editor-in-Chief of the DDC. There are other contributors as well. The FAQ mentions:

“The content of the blog is not vetted by the owners of the DDC — OCLC Online Computer Library Center, Inc. — or by the Decimal Classification Editorial Policy Committee.”

So, it’s not an “official” OCLC blog, but since they own the trademark for the DDC, it might as well be (I assume that they would go after other blogs with DDC in the title without their permission [Remember the library hotel?] - there is even a copyright/trademark statement on the blog). This seems similar to It’s All Good, whose profile reads:

“This content is not vetted by OCLC. Everything you read is purely the personal reflections about what’s going on in libraryland, informed by our birds-eye views from the center of the WorldCat universe”

They like using the word “vetted.” Anyway, I’ll subscribe to 025.431 because the DDC has always interested me. (link via Catalogablog)
