Orbiscope Observer
March 25th, 2005“[E]nables you to track changes in web pages and RSS feeds. It highlight the changes, using a built-in browser display and also allows you to view previous versions of the page, which is useful to catch up with changes that occurred over several days. In addition, you can watch for certain keywords to appear and monitor dynamic images (e.g stock charts). If a page has changed or a keyword is detected, you can be alerted via popup message, email or network message. Additional features include support for HTTP authentication, proxy connections, FTP upload of reports and export to HTML and Excel format.”
Take a look at the screenshot. This product looks exactly like Web Site Watcher (WSW) (which I used to bow down to and scream ‘I’m not worthy” before I became an RSS bigot) and at double the price. I have not played with Orbiscope Observer so I can’t say for certain that the products offer the exact same features, but it looks like it. The HTTP authentication and FTP uploads may be lacking in WSW, but it’s been so long since I used it, I can’t be too sure. Gary? Tara?
