More Conference Blogging
March 25th, 2005Bill Drew wants to organize some conference blogging at SUNYLA and wants some advice:
“Can those of you that have acted as official and unofficial bloggers at conference make any recommendations? I read the blogging going on from Computers in Libraries and found it quite interesting. Any suggestions on best practices or how to coordinate such an effort?”
I think that one of the best methods is for the full aggregation of feeds for those attending the conference. Blogdigger Groups works well. If you want one blog and want librarians to post to that one blog (which, IMO is easier to do), I would suggest that the guidelines be loose, but definitely have the bloggers sign some sort of waiver (liability, copyright, etc), especially if you are doing it in the capacity of an “official” blog.
Having librarians tag their blog posts is another option, but I have yet to see it work well enough to advocate it, but that could change in the future.
I’m seeing these questions come up alot more often as librarians are getting hooked on conference blogging (wheeeeee!). Look for (hopefully) a session at Internet Librarian on this topic…
