Carolyn Minor Responds
March 20th, 2005Responding to my response to her post, Carolyn blogs
“As industry leaders, I think that ITI has a responsibility not to limit the knowledge that is being made available to people interested in the conference. I guess someone could have gone and formed another blogdigger group and added as many relevant feeds as they could find. But should it be too much to expect that this can be done as collaboratively and openly as possible?”
I never thought of this as an option, but that would have been a great. I spoke to a colleague long into the night about being proactive and not reactive to situations that they might have issues with. This is a great procative response. As far as ITI having the reponsibility to not limit knowledge, I think the onus should have been on the bloggers and not ITI. There were at least 15 librarian bloggers there (including me) who could have thought of the option of creating another Blogdigger group.
“Yes, these are emerging technologies and we’re still trying to figure out how to use them. I have no doubts that everyone has learned from this experience and I have faith (based on the good faith of other bloggers) that ITI will improve the blogging experience and knowledge sharing for CIL 2006.”
I agree. We are always learning and gaining knowledge about new (and older) technologies. If we stop learning, we move backward.
Why wait intil CIL 2006? Don’t forget about Internet Librarian 2005.
