The Government Says

February 21st, 2005

The Government Says is a simple aggregation page of many (if not all) government offices in the UK. The feeds are scraped (meaning, the feed is created by a third party), but that doesn’t take away from the possibilities that this resource provides.

Getting government information shouldn’t be hard. In fact, it should be the easiest thing to get. The U.S. Government is doing a decent job in getting content out via RSS, but it could do better (and they probably know that). I’m just imagining one place to get everything. A FirstGov for the RSS world. It could be done. In fact, someone is pretty close to completing the task.

I like the layout of The Government Says though. No frills. Just content. Simple. The most current stuff on top. It’s also searchable, which is key. I’d love to see someone try this with US government information.
